Academic year dates
The 2026-2027 academic year begins on 17 August 2026 and ends on 21 May 2027.
Application
Applications are open from 15 February to 15 April.
Late application
It is possible to submit a late application from 16 April onwards. These will be processed in a separate admission round after the regular admission process.
How to apply
We use the YH-antagning service as our application system.
In the system, you specify:
● your chosen specialisation
● your first and second choices, if applicable.
The following must be included with your application:
● Proof of identity for study purposes (a copy of your passport if you are not a Swedish citizen)
● Personal letter – write about who you are and why you want to study with us.
● Grades and certificates
● Entrance exam
The following may be included in the application (optional):
● CV
● References

Languages
We accept applications in Swedish, Danish, Norwegian and English.
Certificates and diplomas in Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, English, French and German are accepted.
If your certificate/diploma in any other language does not have an English summary please include a translation of the document as well as the original document.

General qualifications
Diploma from completed high school/upper secondary school or equivalent education,
or
by recognition of prior learning corresponding to high school/upper secondary school or equivalent education.
Entrance exam – new!
The admission test consists of a simple task that you, as an applicant, must complete:
Take common materials you already have at home (anything from office supplies to textiles, wood or metal is fine, as long as you already have it at home). Use the materials to create/craft/design something from nature that you think is important.
Take two photos (from different angles) of what you have made, and write a short description, max. 300 characters. Attach the photos and description to your application on yh-antagning.se.
Our selection methods
You do not need any special prior knowledge to be able to apply for the education, but previous education and/or experience in the arts and crafts field is an advantage. In order for us to be able to assess your qualifications, you must enclose certificates or other documentation with your application. You must also do the admission test.
In the selection process, we assess the following points:
- Final grades from upper secondary school (or equivalent) in Swedish or English, mathematics and aesthetic subject
- Entrance exam.
- Previous education in handicrafts, crafts and art (optional)
- Relevant professional experience in handicrafts, crafts or aesthetic professions (optional)
- Experience of handicrafts (through practice/internship/volunteering etc.) (optional)
- Your personal goals and motivation to study. This is assessed through an interview.
- References (optional)
APPENDICES – certificates and credentials
Enclose the documents you wish to invoke in your application. Sätergläntan cannot assess merits that lack documentation. If you attach pictures of craft or art made by you, we may want to ask questions about the items.
General
- If the document is scanned or photographed, the text must be fully legible. The certificate must be able to be printed on A4 size paper.
- If the certificate consists of several pages, all pages must be included.
- All attachments, documents and images should be in PDF or JPG format.
