Vi talar med Maiko Matsunaga, som börjar andra året på Sätergläntans vävutbildning till hösten.
“I want to weave fabrics that will enrich people’s mind and life.”
How would you describe the education program in weaving at Sätergläntan?
The teachers are wonderful. They are both professionals in weaving and specialists in their fields (such as materials, techniques, forms and colors, and so on). We also have guest teachers coming in to teach us their specialties, such as dyeing, wool and history of crafts.
In the environment at Sätergläntan, I have the opportunity to completely concentrate on learning. I live in a dormitory on campus and food is provided all weekdays, so that I can spend most of my time weaving.
Finally, what are your plans for the future? How do you plan to use your weaving skills after your studies?
I plan to go back to Japan and continue weaving. I want to weave fabrics that will enrich people’s mind and life.
