This course lets you experiment with traditional embroidery techniques in some unconventional materials.
This course will be based around the theme of Flora and Fauna. You will use traditional and experimental embroidery techniques, using thread, sequins and beads to create 2D and 3D flower designs. You will also be embroidering an animal or insect design of your choice with an emphasis on gold work and beading. You have the choice of embroidering your artwork on a hoop to hang on the wall or on a garment.
You will be applying these techniques to create a design of your own.
- Crewel work technique ( French Knots, Woven picots, long and short stitch etc)
- Goldwork techniques
- 3D embroidery and beading
By the end of the week you will have a finished piece of art, either in an embroidery hoop or on a garment of your choice. This course is suitable for beginners or embroiderers interested in developing a more experimental approach to embroidery.
