Newsletter / August 2015
Welcome to the Next Study Year 2015-2016!
This week we are welcoming the coming study year’s students of Sätergläntan’s education programme Arts and Crafts – Form and Culture (taught in Swedish) with specialisations in blacksmithing, sewing, wood and weaving for 1-3 years. The first week offers information about the education mixed with craft workshops where all students get the opportunity to try all specialisations, such as dyeing with indigo, creating a repeat pattern, making an awl and building a charcoal kiln.
Welcome to all students and good luck with your studies at Sätergläntan!
Sätergläntan is currently undergoing changes not only with the new exciting activities in education and events, but also with the investment being made to give more people with an interest in crafts the opportunity to visit, participate and study at Sätergläntan. Once change that hardly goes unnoticed at the moment is the construction work. In the beginning of August the old barn at the back of the main building was torn down to make space for a new extended dining hall with more seats for students, course participants and visitors. On the second floor a number of accessible rooms are being built. Here are a few images from this week. We look forward to sharing more images with you in our newsletter and on our social media pages as the work progresses. The reconstruction is scheduled to be completed in March 2016.
